In 2008, GGP added a versatile cultural space to the neighborhood with @SEAPORT!, a former retail space transformed into an indoor venue for free creative programming. Located at 210 Front Street, @SEAPORT! brings art, short film, creative performances, and live comedy and music to the Seaport. The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC)—a partner in the popular River to River Festival—and Dima Productions—the producers of the famous Seaport Music series—are among the groups programming @SEAPORT! events this year.
In June, the Seaport Summer Theater will open its season at @SEAPORT! with diverse performances. Seasons at the Seaport—a collaborative effort among GGP, the South Street Seaport Museum, Montauk Theatre Productions, and the Richard Allen Center for Culture & Art—will also bring exhibits, theatrical performances, and family programming to various venues at the Seaport, including @SEAPORT!. GGP plans to partner with Hamilton Madison House on site specific events to engage the Downtown community with various programming @SEAPORT! later in 2008 and into 2009.
