About SHoP:
Founded in 1996, SHoP Architects is a New York design firm with five partners whose education and experience encompass architecture, fine arts, structural engineering, finance, and business management. In addition to the partners, the office is currently comprised of 75 staff members and is located near City Hall in Lower Manhattan. Awarded a 2008 Progressive Architecture (P/A) Award for their design of the East River Waterfront Park in Lower Manhattan, SHoP has also been recognized for their design of The Porter House in New York with a 2006 Lumen Award, a 2005 AIANY Housing Design Award, a 2005 AIANY Honor Award in Architecture, and a 2005 Chicago Athenaeum American Architecture Award. SHoP was also named a 2002 finalist for the Cooper Hewitt/Smithsonian Institute’s National Design Awards, and was awarded the 2001 Academy Award in Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, as well as the 2001 Emerging Voices Award from the Architectural League of New York. They were also awarded the 2003 Rave Award in Architecture from Wired Magazine. The November 2002 issue of the journal “AD: Architecture and Design” titled “Versioning: Evolutionary Techniques in Architecture” was guest edited by SHoP. Their recent projects include work on 2.5 million sq. ft. housing for the first phase of a new township outside Delhi, India, the East River Waterfront Park in Lower Manhattan, two shopping and office complexes in Beijing, and a new campus for Google in Mountain View, CA.
