For more than two centuries, the South Street Seaport has served as a crossroad for New York City residents and newcomers alike – the location where the City’s grand history meets consummate innovation .
Today the tradition continues with a renewed commitment by GGP to revitalize The Seaport and Pier 17, by enhancing its importance to our community, and reconnecting the area to our historic waterfront.
The evolution of The Seaport is ongoing, with a myriad of new conveniences for local residents —including a collection of specialty food stalls, unique shops to suit a range of tastes, and improved community space — each of which enhances the quality of life of the dynamic neighborhood.
GGP is working with the City to address the needs of residents and the area as a whole. Changes in the area, currently underway, will bring more open space for walks and recreation along the waterfront; improved sightlines of the harbor; and continued live performances, lectures, and children’s programming that celebrate both the area’s rich history and its vibrant present.
